December Man (L'homme de décembre), Theatre@Eastminster (for 2019 Toronto Fringe)

Theatre@Eastminster is a newly established company on the Danforth, now in its fourth year. Following our successful production of Gruesome Playground Injuries in 2018, we are pleased to announce our upcoming production of The December Man (L'homme de décembre) , to be performed as a site-specific production in the 2019 Toronto Fringe Festival.

Theatre@Eastminster’s creative team brings over twenty years experience in professional theatre. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved with a developing theatre company committed to fostering creativity and dialogue in our communities. Each year our performances explore themes of human connection, community and mental health.

About the play
The December Man (L'homme de décembre), by Canadian playwright Colleen Murphy, is set In the aftermath of the 1989 Montreal Massacre. Benoît and Kathleen do everything they can'to help their beloved son cope with his guilt and rage… but Jean’s young life becomes unglued. Using humour and the humdrum of everyday life, Murphy intuitively moves backwards in time to the fateful day when Jean, the only ray of hope in this working-class family, escaped the massacre…or thought he did.

To be performed July 4-6 and 12-14

**A reading copy of the play is available at the Information Desk of the Arts Dept., 5th floor Toronto Reference Library.**
