Yo Canada!, Arbez Drama Projects
Arbez Drama Projects is seeking submissions for the role of Marcus B. Whitey for a reading of Yo Canada! by Alicia Payne.
As an inclusive theatre company, submissions are welcome from all interested individuals from all backgrounds. Based on the role being filled, we strongly encourage Non-union submissions from black, male (cis/trans) and non-binary actors who use a wheelchair (please see description of the role below).
The Cast
Five actors with a flair for comedy to play one main character and assorted other characters. We are currently casting one role:
MARCUS B. WHITEY: Black Male. Age Range: 20s-40s. Technical Writer. Uses a Wheelchair.
The Event
A play reading of YO CANADA! at the Toronto Reference Library on February 19, 2019. This Black History Month Series reading is presented with the support of Playwrights Guild of Canada's PlayConnect Program. The event is free and open to the public. The venue is accessible.
The Play
YO CANADA! by Alicia Payne is a fast-paced ensemble comedy about five roommates chasing their dreams while their dreams are chasing them. The action takes place in reality, the dream world and the space in between. As the roommates overcome obstacles, they discover more about themselves and each other.
The reading will be directed by Donald Molnar, co-founder, Arbez Drama Projects (www.arbezdrama.com).
