Google’s Web Search Features
It is interesting to observe how Google keeps coming up with new ways of organizing information. (In an earlier post I wrote about Google's Wonder Wheel.)
Go to http://www.google.com. At top left click on "more." From the pull-down menu select "even more." Scroll down the list and open Web Search Features
Note how Google has broken down the search strategies by categories such as Everyday Essentials and Reference Tools.
Take a look at the Choosing Keywords section and the thesaurus (synonyms), the dictionary and the spell checker.
Scroll down to Local Search to find out when a movie is showing at your local theatre, or to see whether there are specific kinds of eateries and restaurants in your neighbourhood (for e.g. you can enter the kind of cuisine and your postal code, or address).
In the Trip Planning section you will find tracking for specific airline flights, as well as a currency converter and special access to Google Maps.
