Sat. June 11, 1-4pm, Steeles branch: Om Shanti Om, an action-packed romantic comedy and musical directed and choreographed by Farah Khan. (Hindi with subtitles). Call 416-396-8975 for further information.
Mon. June 13, 6-8:30pm, North York Central Library’s Auditorium: The NYCL Film Club presents Mira Nair’s The Namesake based on the novel by Jhumpa Lahiri about first-generation immigrants from India facing cross-cultural challenges with their American-born children. Call 416-395-5672 to register.
Wed. June 22, Danforth/Coxwell branch will show two films: 1:30-3:30pm, Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Namastey London, a romantic comedy that deals with the challenge of Indians born in other countries staying connected to cultural roots. (Hindi with subtitles); 6-8pm, Deepa Mehta’s Water, a moving film about widows living in an ashram in India during the British Raj. Call 416-393-7783 for further information.
