Canadians and Texting as a Means of Communication
Do you use text messaging or texting as a primary means of communication? The Canadian Press reported yesterday that the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association stated that 56.4 billion text messages were sent in Canada in 2010, a sixty per cent increase from 35.3 billion text messages sent in 2009. As an average, the 2010 numbers work out to 4.7 billion text messages per month or 154.5 million text messages per day. The overall increase in text messaging is slowing down but this is offset in part by the addition of 1.7 million new mobile phone customers into the text messaging mix in 2010.
