Social media for book lovers!  Now that is something to get excited about!

Launched in 2007, Goodreads has become the world’s largest site for readers to find and share the books they love.  With over 25 million members worldwide and 29 million book reviews, it is no wonder that it has become a key resource for readers who are looking for ideas for their next book adventure.

Similar to other social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, users set up a personal profile which allows them to follow and share books and reviews with friends.  The tracking feature allows users to organize and track which books they have read, as well as those they plan to read in the future.

One of my favorite features is the personalized book recommendations.  Based on my reading history, the site offers recommendations of similar titles and genres.  Some of my all-time favorite books have been suggested by Goodreads.  After selecting my next title, all I have to do is search for the book in the Toronto Public Library’s catalogue and put it on Hold.  It couldn’t be easier!

Getting started with Goodreads is simple. This step-by-step guide shows users how to sign-up for an account and set up a profile.  Download Goodreads
