Our Teen Zone moves from Reelin’ & Rockin’ to Graphics & Gaming

A revitalization is taking place on North York Central Library's first floor known as Gateway Services/Teen Zone.  This popular area of the libary is closed to the public this month for the first time since it opened in 1987.  We will reopen in the Fall with a brand new Teen Zone, lots of study space, a new Learning Centre and a Computer Bar full of … computers.

Most, but not all, teen material has been stored away.  A selection of teen books, magazines, manga and graphic books is available for browsing and borrowing in our lower level Concourse area.   New teen material, Classics and DVDs have found a temporary home in the Browsery area on the first floor.  French teen paperbacks and French graphic books can be found on the second floor in the Languages and Literature Department.

Our Learning Centre will also be getting a facelift with classes resuming in the fall in a bright new space.  For computer classes at other branches check the library web page.  Our Book-a-Librarian instruction continues to be available for our computer students and avid readers.

For more information ask at or call the Browsery Desk (416-395-5672).

  1. Please, please, tell me that the wall that went in last night is temporary during the construction to deal with dust/noise and not going to be a permanent barrier?

  2. Don’t worry the wall is there only until the contractors are finished making improvements. They should be done by the Fall. Let’s hope it keeps the noise and dust out!
