Akhila reviewed To Be Mona by Kelly Easton
I read this book named "To be Mona" by Kelly Easton. It is a book that every teen can relate to. The story is about a seventeen year old girl named Sage and she longs to reinvent herself as Mona – a very popular, smart, and rich girl at school. To be Mona, Sage diets and tries to immitate Mona in every way possible despite the fact that she is not as rich and popular. What makes it even more difficult to be Mona is her mom. Her mom suffers from a bipolar disorder. She smokes 24/7 and does not care about sage. Sage's dad on the other hand, had eloped from the familly when Sage was really young. Some say that he ran away because of the way Sage's mom treated him. Anyways, Sage is also in this complicated love relationship. She has been friends with her next door neighbour Vern since she was a kid. Vern has a crush on Sage but, Sage has a crush on this popular guy named Roger. One day Roger notices Sage and they start dating. Roger restrics Sage from being friends with Vern. Vern feels very lonely and sad. Sage starts to feel clastrophobic around Roger due to his restrictions and no shows. She like he is bullying her. In the mean time Vern's mom Mrs. Goldburgs take Sage's mom to the metal hospital and Sage's mom is detected positive for bipolar disorder. Sage's mom is told to stay in the hospital for a few days and she happily agrees to it. Mrs. Goldburgs offers to take care of sage in their hose but, sage refuses to it. Now Sage has to live on her own, live up to Mona and maintain her relationship with Roger. Will Roger and Sage break up? Will Ver finally get his date with his crush Sage? What will Happen to Sage's mom? Will Sage's dad ever return? Will sage turn into mona? Read the book to find out! What I really like about this book is that it is written in different perspectives . Even if Sage is the protagonist, we also get to hear the thoughts of other charecter like Ver, Roger, etc.
Gail reviewed Demonglass: a Hex Hall novel by Rachel Hawkins
In Demonglass, Sophie shares some quality time with her father but what turns out to be a nice family reunion soon turns in to more trouble then she asks for. There's tons of surprises and excitement in this sequel, more then the first book i would definitely say.
Demonglass definitely redeemed this series in my eyes. The first book was horrible but this one was amazing. I LOVE the surprises Hawkins put in to this book. There are surprises from the first chapter all the way to the last. It was absolutely amazing. In this book, Sophie is told who her fiancee is since each witch/warlock is bethrothed at thirteen when their powers come. I was completely shocked and am definitely on this guy's side. Archer is the general "bad boy" in the series and i really don't like him but of course the main character Sophie has to be soooo in love with him. Some things never change. What they also find as a surprise in this book is that there are people creating demons for some reason. You figure out who but it's a complete shocker. The only thing that my opinion hasn't changed on is the cover. Often people say to not judge a book by its cover but seriously, who hasn't picked up a book and their first opinion of it was how good the cover is? I'm definitely one of those people so yeah, back to what i was saying. This cover sucks. The cover follows the whole witch-reflection design with the normal Sophie at the top and the reflection being her all mighty, powerful form. Okay well first of all, the picture of Sophie has nothing to do with what happens in the book. On the cover, she looks like she's prepared for a rain storm or something. Dressed for it in an all black attire plus umbrella and rain boots with puddles in the background. Sophie never once dressed like that in the book. Secondly, the reflection of the girl makes it look like either a really young bride, which could be a hint to the fiancee part, or an extravagant prom dress. Once again, doesn't make sense. Lastly the model on the cover. THERE'S NO EXCITEMENT FROM HER. Not once would i pick up this book and think "hmm, i'm going to read this" if i hadn't read previous reviews or seen the vass amount of advertising. Either way, they really need to reconceptialize these cover designs but the story is getting better so that's good. Still on the fence about this series but at least more of me is on the "i like this" side as opposed to the "i don't."

I really liked Hex Hall 🙂 …although now I can’t remember why I did.. perhaps because the first time I read it, I was only 13, and I didn’t read as many varieties of books as I do now :/
Oh well, I’m glad you liked Demonglass, which I read just last year… I actually thought it was really good, too 🙂
Nice reviews! I am going to miss the reviews once WORDOUT ends. 🙁

To be Mona sounds really interesting 🙂 nice review guys!
I guess you can’t truley judge a book until you find all about it. If you decided to read Demonglass then the plot must be creative. 😛
To Be Mona sounds really good! Can’t wait to read it 🙂
Thanks 🙂
