Pirate Cinema
What would you do if your family lost all access to the Internet for a year, without any exceptions?
In near-future Britain, this is the punishment that befalls Trent McCauley’s family, after the 16 year old is caught a third time making an illegal movie on his computer by sampling and reassembling footage he has found online. After witnessing this punishment nearly destroy his family, Trent runs away to London where he must quickly learn how to stay alive on the streets while still retaining his own self-respect. Here he enters a world of artists and activists who are trying to fight a new government bill that will criminalize digital copying even more harmless than Trent’s, making millions of people felons with a single stroke. Things are looking bad, but those in power haven’t reckoned on the power of a movie to change people’s minds.

I think in first world countries, society has become so dependent on the internet that we can’t begin to imagine what life would be like if deprived of this. We read, write, research, draw, socializing, sending letter, watching videos etc. all on the internet. To have to go a year without internet will definitely be hard to adjust.
