Weekly Trivia 2: The Scott Pilgrim Edition

Scott PilgrimOK folks! Time for the second installment of our weekly trivia contest, where we pick your brains about your book-based knowledge. In this week's edition, we want to know how much YOU know about Bryan Lee O'Malley's epic comic series, Scott Pilgrim.

One of the series' epic battles takes place at a famous Toronto department store. Tell us the name of the store and you could win a free book!

OR:

Where would you have had Scott kick some butt? Tell us the Toronto landmark where you think Scott should have dished out some pain pie and why! If we like your idea best, you'll win a book too.

There are only a couple of rules to this contest:

1) You have to be a resident of the city of Toronto to win a prize.

2) Your answer has to be submitted by Thursday (July 10) at 11:59 PM if you want to win.

3) You need to provide us with a valid email address if you want to be considered for the prize. Otherwise, how will we get in touch with you? Don't worry, we'll keep your address secret (see below for more info).

Winners will be contacted at the end of the week.

Your name, your e-mail address, the books you read and your thoughts about them are your personal information. Why do we need your personal information here?  Well, we want to publish your reviews, and we need your name and e-mail address to help administer the contest.  The Public Libraries Act is the law that lets us do this.  We'll be protecting your privacy every step of the way, but if you have any questions about how we're going to do that, you can contact TPL's Privacy & Records Management Officer, 789 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON, M4W 2G8, 416-395-5658 or by e-mail at gnettlefold@torontopubliclibrary.ca

  1. I personally would have liked to see Scott face off with Lucas Lee at the ROM’s stair of wonders (it’s really cool, and it basically a really awesome black-and-white staircase which looks like monochromatic abstract art from arial view).
Just looking at pictures of it makes me dizzy.
To see Scott defeat evil ex #2 would be great because it will actually let us readers really feel what Scott is feeling while they’re skateboarding around–it would be like one of those 3D movies transformed into a graphic novel. Plus, the staircase is really special and tourists will miss out on a lot if they don’t go there.
So yeah, that’s basically why. Although I guess there should be this large panel before the scene to warn readers to not flip the page if they’ve just finished a big meal.

  2. Scott fought Todd Ingram at Honest Ed’s! (They destroyed it after battle, which is kind of funny since Honest Ed’s is going to be shut down soon as well. Foretelling the future…)

  3. I absolutely adore this Toronto-based graphic novel series and the movie!! The epic battle took place at Honest Ed’s department store.
I would have loved to see one of the face-offs happen on the top of the CN Tower or at Casa Loma. As they are 2 iconic Toronto sites that would add an extra sense of beauty and danger.

  4. I think Blackcreek Pioneer Village would be perfect because it would add some action into a calm village, and would be shocking and unexpected because nobody will really expect and face-offs there. The scenery is also pretty there.
