Exercises come in all shapes and sizes: It’s finally here…
Ladies and gentlemen of the internet, the dreaded week has finally arrived.
TOUGH MUDDER TORONTO 2014 is this weekend!
For those of you who are new to my little corner of digital space, I have attached a YouTube link so you know what I'm going on about.
Anyways that being said, this is the week where all of my training and preparation will hopefully pay off. Otherwise I am going to sink miserably into the icy cold waters of the Arctic Enema.
I have started to tone down my workouts leading up to Saturday and I am also going camping from Wednesday to Friday so this week is going to be all about resting and stretching.
So from now until race day I will be practicing yoga and trying to get as loose and ready as possible for the grueling assault.
Now if you had asked me to do yoga 10 years ago, I probably would have laughed and less than politely declined the offer. There's just something about being in a hot room doing odd poses while listening to divine rhythms that didn't quite entice me.
Things change however and a few months ago my girlfriend dragged me to her hot yoga class. What I found, once I got over the chanting and the positive energy speak, was a very challenging and physically rewarding practice. Yoga is a very good way to stretch and strengthen the finer details of your muscle groups.
Stretching is something I have tradionally tended to gloss over and truthfully I skip the cool down and stretching bit after my workout more often than not.
In yoga, I have found a way to spend an entire workout session focusing on nothing but stretching and balance and I have found it to be very beneficial to my overall training package.
Wish me luck this week and assuming I survive, I will be giving you the full review next week!
For this week though, do any of you practice yoga?
Or is there something weird you have always been hesitant to try until you finally did, and then once you tried it, it turns out you love it?

I did some free yoga classes at my school, and I really enjoyed it, however theres not many yoga classes where i live.
I love yoga, but since I am very out of shape and inflexible, I just do yoga at home when I have the time.
Good luck! Can’t wait to hear how it goes.
Myself, I am trying to work myself up to try rollerskating. I’m a fan of roller derby, but traditionally accident-prone, so my cautious side is battling with my desire to do something that looks like fun if you get it mastered.
