So Long, Google Video…There is Always YouTube

Mashable reported a week ago that Google announced on April 15, 2011 that it was ending its Google Video service and those users who had uploaded videos to the site needed to download them by May 13, 2011 before they are removed. As of April 29, 2011, videos would no longer be viewable on the site. Users had asked why Google Video content could not be transferred to YouTube which Google had already acquired. Fortunately, Google listened and Mashable and Techie Buzz  both reported today that Google issued a statement on its Webmaster Central blog . Google has eliminated the April 29 deadline and is offering Google Video users the option to migrate or upload their videos to YouTube (using an “Upload Videos to YouTube” option on the Google Video status page) provided that users already have or create a YouTube account to accept the transfer.  Google Video users not wishing to upload their videos to YouTube still have the option of just downloading their videos from Google Video.
