OverDrive Account Verification
Update October 9, 2014 – The OverDrive Account is now required for all OverDrive customers who are downloading eBooks to mobile devices such as an iPad and iPhone as well as Android and Windows 8 devices. Adobe Authorization is no longer required on these mobile devices, but still needed when using Adobe Digital Editions.
In the last few weeks, OverDrive has been sending out requests to some OverDrive customers asking them to verify their OverDrive Accounts. The latest version of the OverDrive Media Console app has the option to set up an OverDrive Account on the opening screen.
First of all, please note that this is a legitimate email from OverDrive. Feel free to verify your OverDrive Account, if you wish. However, before you go ahead, you should know that this OverDrive Account is entirely optional and is not connected to the library card number account used to borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks.
The main purpose of this OverDrive Account is to allow OverDrive customers to sync their eBooks and eAudiobooks between their mobile devices. For example, a customer who uses her smartphone to read on the TTC can'then pick up where she left off when she gets home and picks up her tablet.
The OverDrive Account will also allow OverDrive customers to setup future devices with their Adobe authorization information and Libraries simply by signing in with their OverDrive account.
For more information on OverDrive Accounts, please have a look at the OverDrive.com and your OverDrive account page on the OverDrive website.
Please note: OverDrive Accounts are not applicable to OverDrive users who download to Adobe Digital Editions for transfer to an eReader, or use OverDrive Read.
