May 28, 2013 | TPL Staff | Comments (16)

On May 28, the OverDrive eBook service is releasing a new version of the OverDrive Media Console app for Apple and Android devices. The new version includes some important bug fixes, so you'll want to make sure you get the update for your device.

How do I get the new version of the app?

If you already have the OverDrive app, your device should prompt you to download and install the new version. Or you can go directly to app store for your device:

  1. Just to clarify – I am using my laptop and an iPod for eAudiobooks so I should be good to go with the old Overdrive Media Console. Version 1.1.1 is the latest version for my MacAir.

  3. That’s right, Frances. This update is for the apps that run on mobile devices rather than on laptop or desktop computers.

  5. Hi
I am unclear why this update is asking me to purchase it – should it not be free? I am using a BB Playbook – the fist install was free but now it is asking to login to purchase. Thx

  7. Hi Jim,
The OverDrive Media Console is a free application. I haven’t used a Playbook but I know that Apple requires your account credentials even if you are downloading a free app. I suspect that BlackBerry is the same.

  9. I really hope the Android version can be rejigged to permit movement to the microSD card, as most other major apps are. Owners of older e.g. Gingerbread, phones have limited “internal storage” – my available 45mb is fully jammed. Gingerbread is still over half the Android phones in use, and I think the requirement to install the app on internal storage will limit its appeal to many users who are not rushing out to buy the latest. (The Amazon Kindle app, for example, is happily on my microSD card.)

  11. Why am I getting a new message to go to Adobe ID with password for new Apple requirement but there is no link to do this either directly at prompt or through TPL?
