Word Out 2010 has ended and the information on this page may not be up to date for a more current incarnation of Word Out.

Each week of Word Out! will feature three books in three different categories:

  • Fiction
  • Nonfiction
  • Graphic Novel

Books will be introduced by teen services librarians and teens are encouraged to contribute to the discussion. Each title also includes a few readalikes–titles that you may also like if you enjoy the featured book.

You are free to read whatever you like for Word Out!, but these books were selected as recent titles of particular interest to teen readers.

There are multiple copies of all books in Toronto Public Library’s collection.  Visit our main website to search for them or click on the titles below to find a copy near you or place a hold on one.

Music is the center of Sammy’s world. But with the upcoming battle of the bands fast approaching, Sammy isn’t so sure if he can make it in the music business. To top it all off, Sammy has to look after his sick grandfather. Can Sammy keep his band together long enough to play in the battle of the bands?
