Word Out 2011 has ended and the information on this page may not be up to date for a more current incarnation of Word Out.

What’s Word Out?

Word Out is Toronto Public Library’s teen summer reading program.

Isn’t summer a little far off?

Getting closer every day!  But yes, there’ll be more to do here in the summer.

What happens during the summer?

  • Online registration starting in mid-June
    • $10 in library fine forgiveness just for registering
  • Featured weekly books and author participation throughout July and August
  • Prizes!  Lots of different ways to win gift certificates, books and other stuff
  • Talk books with fellow teens, enthusiastic and knowledgeable librarians, and the occasional author
  • Create video book reviews, book review comic strips… maybe even blog for Word Out!
  • Lots! more! things! requiring! exclamation! points!

How can I possibly prepare for all of this?

  • Read some of the featured books in preparation
  • Read some other books!  We talk about more than just the featured books throughout the summer, and we’re always looking for good reads
  • Check out what happened in 2009 and 2010
  • Tell your friends!
