Thank you to those who provided feedback. The survey is now closed.

Take the Wireless Survey

Toronto Public Library offers wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi) at all 98 of our branches. To help us better understand use of the service, we want to learn more about:

  • How you use the library wireless service
  • Your use of other Toronto Public Library services
  • Your use of the Internet through your mobile and laptop devices

This survey takes 10 minutes or less to complete. Let us know what you think!

  1. I am a huge fan of the TPL’s wireless service especially at the Toronto Reference Library. Unfortunately, all too often – all the more the past few years – I cannot connect when I need to. I realize that there are many users at certain times and that bandwidth issues exist but to be blunt, it is an absolute disgrace that the flagship library of the second largest public library system in North America and in Canada’s largest city has a wireless system that rarely works or that is capped at roughly 100 users.
This is a situation unbecoming the Toronto Public Library and must be remedied.

  3. I second it.
I have no issues of yet at other libraries.

  5. I sound like a grumpy old man by writing this, but here goes:
The Reference Library is often full of people watching porn and YouTube videos all day long.
And the ‘English School’ a block away uses it as an extension of their campus; it’s a hangout for their students because the school has no room to accommodate them. The school subsidizes their business by using the Public Library, basically.
I don’t know what the library can do about it, but my guess is that these users contribute more than their share to the usual bandwidth issues that a public Wi-Fi service experiences.

  7. I am a huge fan of the TPL’s wireless service especially at the Toronto Reference Library. Coming from New York I love i can use something i found way better!! but I don’t like the fact that wireless system is capped at roughly 100 users.
Also and important there should be a restriction at The Reference Library because I’ve caught in the past some people watching porn and YouTube videos that are not appropiate because kids are around, I’m a mother I bring my kids to do read or do research….those are the dumbs that spoiled it for everybody… not fair!
    My wish list?
1)improve accesibility to the catalogues and databasess especially for users with visual impairments. Please don’t let them behind.
    2) liberate the services using the WW web 2.0 and look towards Web 3.0 and 4.0
    3) support the staff at the libraries with continue trainig and encouragment to be proactive.
