Steffi reviewed Bloomability – By: Sharon Creech

I found this book adorable in every way <3 The main character, Domenica Santolina Doone (Dinne for short), is a very observant girl who tries her best to get by in her circumstances. The story is about her having an "oppurtunity". Due to her home circumstances, she is sent to live with her aunt and uncle in Switzerland. She is then enrolled in a boarding school in Lugano for a year. The cast of characters are original and unique in every way.
First there's Guthrie, the first friend she met in Lugano. He is an optimist in every ense of the word. He loves going to new places, meeting new people, trying new things. Guthrie is the guy to go to if you ever feel down. He'll tell you the truth, no holds barred.
Then there's Lila. Honestly? Her character annoys me. But I find her amusing. She's pretty much a loose canon. She is super emotional, super snobby, super annoying, super opinionated and she thinks everything she does is right. No questions asked. One minute she's your best friend, the next she hates you. She thinks everyone's out to get her but she thinks everyone loves her *sigh* She's…unique. I see why Dinnie sticks around.
Belen is the latina of the group. She was first assigned a room with Lila (could you imagine?) and hated every minute of it. Lila the dramatic made her dorm life a living hell. Eventually she tuned her out, but throughout the story, she was just kinda there. She teaches Dinnie a whole bunch of things and is just generally nice. Her character is refreshing in this (..is the word dramatic?) story.
Keisuke is the Japanese boy. I find his character adorable. I wish I could have him for a little brother. He's new to the school (obviously) so his english isn't that great. His accent is amusing to the reader AND the students. (i.e Stupid = stew-pod)
I could go on and on about the characters and story but I think it would be best for you guys to read it for yourself. It's a heartfelt story about a girl who's given an oppurtunity to do something great. She doesn't like it at first, but meeting all her friends and experiencing things with them has changed her outlook on life. Everything is "bloomable" if you give it a chance :]

Gail reviewed Toriko vol. 1 by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro
This graphic novel has become really popular in Shonen Jump but the main character's scary look detered me from ever reading it.  After a while i decided it was about time i read it so my first opinion was, well, the story is really funny.  The main character's name is Toriko, who is a gourmet hunter.  Now in this world, there are all sorts of food, animals and vegetables. They have bacon leaves, giant cray fish cods, five-tailed eagles, golden caviar and banana cucumbers, just to name a few in the first volume.  A gourmet hunter's job is to seek out all the gourmet food in the world and create their "life menu" which consists of eight courses.   Each gourmet hunter will find something that they believe is the best and deserves to be on their life menu.  Toriko is one of the best and throughout the first volume, you see his some of his extreme adventures to hunt down some rare delicacies.  What i really liked about this story was the humour in.  It's been a while since i've read a manga that has made me laugh at every chapter.  The art in this series though is more shonen jump style.  Toriko himself is very musculeur and large and the animals in this series are also quite scary.  I do applaud Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro's imagination.  The story line is very original and you can'tell the author puts much thought in to his story.  If you're a manga fan, especially a Shonen fan (mainly action, such as naruto, bleach and one piece) then you're sure to love this manga too and you should definitely read this.

He thinks if he and his family leave without a trace then Bella can get over him and have a shot at a normal life. He leaves after making her promise to do nothing reckless or stupid.
It has the opposite effect and Bella goes into depression. After Edward leaving her, she sees no reason in keeping the promise she made to him, and is searching for new ways to be reckless and stupid. Alecia reviewed Breaking Dawn – By: Stephaine Meyers

Breaking Dawn is put into three separate books. The first book is about  Bella's marriage and honeymoon with Edward, which they spend on a private island off the coast of Brazil. Edward grants Bella's wish and makes love to her. Later on, Bella realizes that she is pregnant. After contacting Carlisle, who confirms her pregnancy, she and Edward plan to return home. Edward, concerned for her well-being as the fetus develops with unnatural rapidity, urges her to get an abortion. However, Bella wants to keep the child and so contacts Rosalie for support, knowing that Rosalie has always wanted children.
The second book  is written from Jacob's point of view, and lasts throughout Bella's pregnancy and childbirth. The pack of werewolves, not knowing what danger the unborn child may pose, make plans to destroy it, even though they must kill Bella to do so. Jacob strongly  disagrees with this decision and revolts, leaving the pack to form his own with Seth and Leah Clearwater. Bella soon gives birth, but the baby breaks many of her bones and she loses massive amounts of blood. In order to save her life, Edward changes her into a vampire. Jacob, who was present for the birth, immediately imprints – an involuntary response in which a werewolf finds his soul mate – on Edward and Bella's newborn daughter, Renesmee.

The third book of Breaking Dawn goes back to Bella's perspective, finding her changed into a vampire and enjoying her new life and abilities. However, the vampire Irina misidentifies Renesmee as an "immortal child", a child who has been turned into a vampire. The creation of "immortal children" was previously outlawed by the Volturi. After Irina presents her allegation to the Volturi, they plan to destroy Renesmee and the Cullens. In an attempt to save her, the Cullens gather vampires from around the world to stand as witnesses and prove to the Volturi that Renesmee is not an immortal child. Upon confronting the gathered Cullen friends and witnesses, the Volturi discover that they have been misinformed and immediately execute Irina for her mistake. However, they remain undecided on whether Renesmee should be viewed as a threat to the secret existence of vampires. At that time, Alice and Jasper, who had left prior to the confrontation, return with Nahuel, a 150-year-old vampire-human crossbreed like Renesmee. He demonstrates that the crossbreeds pose no threat, and the Volturi leave. Bella, Edward and Renesmee return to their home in peace.

Alecia reviewed Infinite Days – By: Rebecca Maizel

Lenah Beaudon'te is, in many ways, your average teen: the new girl at Wickham Boarding School, she struggles to fit in enough to survive and stand out enough to catch the eye of the  lacrosse captain. But Lenah also just happens to be a recovering five-hundred-year-old vampire queen. After centuries of terrorizing Europe, Lenah is able to realize the dream all vampires have — to be human again. After performing a dangerous ritual to restore her humanity, Lenah entered a century-long hibernation, leaving behind the wicked coven she ruled over and the eternal love who has helped grant her deep-seated wish.

Lenah draws her first natural breath in centuries at Wickham and rediscovers a human life that bears little resemblance to the one she had known. As if suddenly becoming a teenager weren't stressful enough, each passing hour brings Lenah closer to the moment when her abandoned coven will open the crypt where she should be sleeping and find her gone. As her borrowed days slip by, Lenah resolves to live her newfound life as fully as she can. But, to do so, she must answer ominous questions: Can an ex-vampire survive in an alien time and place? What can Lenah do to protect her new friends from the bloodthirsty menace about to descend upon them? And how is she ever going to pass her biology midterm?

  1. Bloomability sounds like a good book. Alot of unique characters, especially Lila(I wonder if I’m anything like her)!!!:P

  2. Bloomability: I am really interested about the characters. I believe that I can relate to Guthrie because I am also an outgoing person, I love to go on new adventures and I like to meet new people.
The Twilight Saga: I know for a fact that most people do not like The Twilight Saga but as for myself, I find it a wonderful story. My favourite book, out of all the four, would have to be twilight because it’s the first book of The Twilight Saga and just when Bella felt like her life would be full of boredom as she moves in with her dad, she is mistaken. When she finds out that there are vampires in her school, she becomes really interested and does a lot of research to get over her curiosity.
